DAVIDOFF 4 MALDEN
POSITION OVERVIEW

POSITION OVERVIEW
When my wife and I chose to move to Malden, I couldn't help but laugh at our real estate agent who kept insisting that we would be moving again in five years, no matter how many times we told her that this would be our permanent home. Eighteen years later it's still our home, and we love the diverse and caring community we have found here.
While political office has never been a goal of mine, I was raised with the basic truth that if you voice a complaint, you should be prepared to work on fixing the issue. With that in mind, here are a few areas that I believe must be addressed:
-
City Council must focus on the needs of Maldonians and local issues within the city – issues that unite and directly impact our community, not inflammatory rhetoric designed to divide us.
-
City Councillors must engage in responsible budgeting and ensure financial responsibility, with an eye toward preserving essential city services as the foundation of any budget created.
-
City Council needs to encourage the development, support, and growth of small businesses as part of an overall effort to protect and enhance our infrastructure and essential services, as well as the character of our city.
-
City Council must work to find solutions to the lead contamination in Roosevelt Park. It's far too easy to just say "fix the issue," but with our growing budget constraints, we need to be more resourceful and creative to deal with this issue which threatens the health and safety of our families.
I feel strongly about these points, and want to hear about any other matters that you think are important as well.
I encourage you to share your thoughts with me at davidoff4malden@gmail.com.
As a strong supporter of our first responders, unions, libraries, and schools, I pledge to listen to the voters of Malden and to address the issues that impact our community the most.
